Diaper rash is one of the common forms of dermatitis that appears as a patchwork of bright red skin on the buttock area. Diaper rash can be traced from a number of sources, including irritation from stool and urine, rubbing, bacterial or yeast infection and sensitive skin conditions.
 
Babies and elderly who wear a diaper regularly can develop the condition. Diaper rash can be characterized by the red patches, dry or peeling skin, small bumps, itching and painful areas.
